Back in the summer I photographed this beautiful wedding in Greenwich. I’ve been so busy with shooting and travelling since that its taken me this long to get it online.
I met the bride at her apartment as she prepared with her Maid of Honour, and my second photographer (Chris) got to shoot the guys having a Turkish wet shave. Olena and Paul were wed at St Alfege Church which is right in the centre of Greenwich – and a stunning venue to be the wedding photographer at. From there they had their reception at The Trafalgar Tavern which is right on the bank of the river.
In the evening we headed up to the top of Greenwich park to do a shot at sunset with the London skyline behind. I’m really glad we made the effort to get up there because the shot came out just as I had envisaged it. The sky was turning a gorgeous orange colour as we walked from the car park and took a position halfway up the hill, the couple did a great job of ignoring the crowd of people sitting around to camera left! My assistant Chris was holding an off camera flash and umbrella to the side and we used this to throw some light back onto the backlit couple, having only a matter of minutes to get it all right before the colour faded we had to work quickly, a few test shots to balance the ambient light with the flash and we were ready to get the shot.
As the sun sank below the horizon and the city skyline lit up, the dancing began…
